The router installation is very simple. Before the installation procedure starts, unplug the modem from power supply. Then, remove the Ethernet cable from your PC and connect it to the Internet port on the rear end of the router. The user can easily recognize the Internet port as the color of it varies from the other ports. Take the Ethernet cable that came with your D-Link router, and plug it into Ethernet port on the back of the router and connect it to the Ethernet port on the back of the PC. Now, the user can plug in both the modem and the router to the power supply. When the green light goes on, it indicates that the user can now start using the Internet facility.
Tips to install
The installation kit for the router you purchased contains all the three components. Normally, the router installation kit contains the router, an Ethernet cable, an installation disk, and a power adapter for the router. Disconnect the power supply to the modem and the PC. The common installation error found in Windows 7 based machines is the compatibility issue certain D–Link routers are not compatible with the machine. Another major issue found is the "Error 103: Internet connection not verified” message while the user try to start the installation. This error message is due to the firewall set-up on your system, uninstall the firewall and continue the router installation.
First establish a proper connection between the router and the system. Open the web browser and type http://www.192.168.0.1. Log in as the admin in to router settings. From the router homepage, select the set-up menu and choose the new connections that appear on the subsequent window. On the set-up screen, which appears then, choose the type as 'Bridge' and type '35' in to the 'VCI' field. Select the 'Restart' button that appears on the 'Tool' menu of the router. The router configuration is saved and it starts automatically.
