Ericsson has announced the launch of its Smart Cloud Accelerator solution, which complements Ericsson’s portfolio of content delivery options consisting of the Mobile Cloud Accelerator (MCA).

The latest addition to the SSR 8000 family of Ericsson is the SSR 8010 Smart Services Router (SSR). The SSR 8000 is a key component of Ericsson’s portfolio of 4th-generation IP networking solutions launched in 2011. The portfolio is ideal for mobile and fixed IP backhaul that can aggregate 2G, 3G, 4G and fixed access traffic.

The 10-slot SSR 8010 complements the 20-slot SSR 8020, enabling operators to deploy the SSR family in different regions of the network: IP Edge and aggregation. The SSR 8010 consumes just 3.3 watts per gigabit of traffic throughput, and is ideal for applications where 10 available slots will be optimal to meet current capacity and upcoming growth. Capacity planning will drive the decision and a customer can deploy both 8010 and 8020 nodes in the same network. The SSR 8010′s smaller footprint provides additional flexibility for operators to deploy networks with distributed architectures.

The SSR 8010 will be commercially available in third quarter of 2012.

ZyXEL Communications, a broadband networking company that offers Internet products and solutions, has announced the release of its NBG-419N v2 Wireless N NetUSB router, a mainstream wireless router designed to meet the demands of the home market.

This new version of the NBG-419N, the successful predecessor that got a positive response from customers and the global media, offers not only the accredited features, but also more state-of-the-art design to benefit users with refreshing home wireless networking experience.

Featuring an advanced 802.11n wireless technology and transmission speeds of up to 300 Mbps, the NBG-419N v2 Wireless N home router boasts of offering stability and reliability of wireless transmission – both critical for wireless streaming of multimedia contents. Juniper’s new offerings include new service gateways, wireless-access points, and advanced end-point security features. According to Alex Gray, senior vice president and general manager at Juniper Networks, “The main objective is to make securing and managing the growing number of mobile computing devices entering the work environment easier for businesses.”

“IT managers are trying to cope with the influx of mobile devices into the workplace,” Gray said in a statement. “Juniper’s holistic approach advances security, simplifies the user experience and expands device support.”

MediaTek Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductors for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced that its Wi-Fi system-on-a-chip (SoC), the RT6856, has been incorporated into D-Link’s latest Wi-Fi cloud routers. D-Link will be rolling out several new cloud routers this spring.

The MediaTek RT6856 Wi-Fi SoC contains a powerful 700 MHz MIPS 34KEc CPU core and dual PCI Express interfaces to enable two Wi-Fi streams for “dual band concurrent” home networks offering high quality data, voice and video applications. This powerful SoC allows consumers to create two wireless networks both running at full bandwidth speeds, thus providing a remarkable increase in total network capacity.

In addition to this, the MediaTek RT6856 also features two USB 2.0 interfaces for 3G/4G broadband connectivity, wireless printer sharing, or wireless storage applications; and SPI, I2C, I2S, and PCM interfaces for audio streaming and VoIP applications. Also, this chip includes the company’s field proven hardware support for Network Address Translation (NAT) that makes its LAN to WAN routing performance five times faster than the conventional software-based products.

Networking solutions provider NETGEAR has officially announced that 3Sweden, a mobile operator, has chosen the NETGEAR MBR1310 mobile broadband router for deployment to customers on its high speed 3G network in Sweden.

The NETGEAR MBR1310 offers broadband Internet access at speeds up to 32 Mbps downstream by 4.6 Mbps upstream in the 3 network. In addition to this, the NETGEAR MBR1310 offers connectivity via a 4-port LAN, 2 USB ports, and 802.11n Wi-Fi up to 300 Mbps. The mobile router can also provide a resilient service via a secondary Ethernet WAN port when required.

Verizon Wireless has entered the residential broadband market by launching its another in-home wireless broadband product called the HomeFusion Broadband. This home wireless broadband product captures a high-speed cellular broadband signal from Verizon’s 4G LTE — or fourth-generation long term evolution — network with the help of an antenna, which is mounted on the exterior of a home.

The antenna features multiple internal antennae to pick up the best LTE signal. The antenna in turn connects to the router, which connects to up to four Ethernet-connected devices and to at least 20 Wi-Fi devices in the home. These Wi-Fi devices can be anything from computers, gaming consoles to tablet computer systems. According to Verizon Wireless, this service is targeted to consumers looking for some alternatives to their existing service, particularly in those areas where the broadband services are limited.

The average downlink data rates range from 5Mbps to 12Mbps, and the uplink average is 2Mbps to 5Mbps. The service costs US $60/month for 10 GB of data, US $90/month for 20 GB, or US $120/month for 30 GB, with additional data usage costing US $10 per 1 GB. The company says that the service and equipment will be made available to users through Verizon Wireless stores and authorized distributors.

NETGEAR has officially announced the release of its NETGEAR R6300 Wi-Fi Router, the first 802.11ac dual band gigabit Wi-Fi router that enables 5th generation Wi-Fi (5G Wi-Fi) at gigabit speeds. The router is also backwards compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n, which provides optimum interoperability with legacy Wi-Fi devices.

The NETGEAR R6300 Wi-Fi Router, which is powered by Broadcom’s 5G Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac chips, is up to three times faster than the existing 802.11n routers. Featuring a completely new design that fits perfectly in consumers’ living spaces, the router can increase the coverage area for HD streaming in the home. Aerohive Networks, a pioneer in Cloud-enabled enterprise networking infrastructure, has announced the general availability of its newest addition to the Branch on Demand solution – the BR200. Building on the success of its BR100, which was released last November, Aerohive BR200 takes you in an era of rapid time-to-revenue and operation for retail stores, long-term healthcare facilities, and mid-market and commercial enterprises with highly dispersed remote locations that have little-to-no IT support.

The upgraded platform comes in two versions – the BR200 and the BR200-WP, both of which offer LAN connectivity and HiveOS routing, secure wired access, and Cloud-based management. Networking specialist Cisco has announced the release of a line of Linksys Smart Wi-Fi routers that promises to entirely change the experience of home networking. The newly introduced series is called EA Series and it includes EA4500, EA3500, and EA2700 models. The ‘A’ letter in this series means ‘app-enabled’.

All the three models of the EA Series come equipped with more powerful hardware and support the next generation of Cisco Connect software called Cisco Connect Cloud. The EA4500, for instance, appears similar to the original Linksys E4200, but the differences inside are significant. Cisco also announced that it is working with top device manufacturers to simplify their networked products, such as TVs, entertainment devices, and home appliances.
