To support all its existing Wi-Fi clients and meet their ever-growing demands for fast and reliable HD streaming, Western Digital has recently unveiled its My Net AC1300 HD dual-band router. My Net AC1300, the latest addition to the My Net family of HD dual-band routers, combines next-generation, widely acclaimed 802.11ac wireless technology with an excellent QoS feature called FastTrack that offers maximum streaming performance by prioritizing high-bandwidth services like YouTube, Netflix, online games, and Skype. The FastTrack technology scans your incoming traffic in real-time to find if your router requires more bandwidth and prioritizes it accordingly.

Thanks to its dual-band speed of up to 450Mbps for all the existing Wi-Fi devices, My Net AC1300 supports Wi-Fi signals on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. Since both these bands function simultaneously, the router promises to significantly reduce streaming delays as well as interference from a number of other Wi-Fi devices connected to the network. Blazing fast throughput and high-quality signals are achieved through its unique horizontal 3 × 3 antenna that seamlessly streams movies, shows, videos, games, and chat sessions on your network.

Looks wise, the router is slightly sleeker than its predecessor My Net N900 HD and sports four LAN ports. All the ports are placed at its back. Apart from the LAN ports, the router also contains a gigabit WAN port, an on/off button, a reset button, two USB 2.0 ports, and a power connector. The USB ports host as connecting ports for external devices like external hard disks and printers. On the front, the router has four LEDs to show the status of power, Internet connection, wireless connection, and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).

My Net AC 1300 also offers a parental control feature that allows you to filter websites that your children can view. Other than this, you can also block your kid’s access to the Internet on the basis of pre-defined time slots and set time limits for their web access. The router also allows you to set up your own secure wireless hotspot and let your guests wirelessly access your network. Apart from all these features, My Net AC 1300 also supports other common features like firewall, port forwarding, DMZ, DynDNS, MAC filtering, etc.

With all the technical specs and superior performance features, My Net AC1300 is a well-designed, high-end router and at a price tag of $190, it seems to be a pretty decent choice.

3G wireless routers deliver the fast mobile broadband connectivity. Working on parallel lines and promising the best possible mobile broadband connections to its home and…

3G wireless routers deliver the fast mobile broadband connectivity. Working on parallel lines and promising the best possible mobile broadband connections to its home and business users, Westbase Technology, the leading European distributor of specialized communication products, has unveiled two of its 3G routers – the WiBE HS21 and the WiBE Pro.

Designed with Deltenna’s multi-beam antenna technology, WiBE routers deliver fastest broadband connectivity even in the most remote broadband locations. Outperforming the fixed line connections, WiBE ensures that user’s access to Internet is fast and secure. The routers deliver a speed of up to 21 Mbps in local and at least 2 Mbps in the rural areas. Both WiBE HS21 and WiBE Pro routers are ideal for customers who struggle with slow broadband Internet connectivity.

While WiBE HS21 is designed for indoor use, WiBE Pro is made for outdoor environments, especially for business and enterprise use. The unique feature of WiBE is its smart antenna technology that tests the connection speed from all available 3G stations and selects the one that offers the best connection range. Unlike other 3G routers, WiBE continuously scan the network connections to ensure that you enjoy uninterrupted 3G connectivity at all times. Even in the remote connectivity areas, WiBE routers deliver three times stronger connectivity than any other 3G router or dongles. Even for services that require intensive bandwidth, including CCTV monitoring services and video streaming services, WiBE 3G routers deliver fast and optimized connectivity. Installing WiBE routers is a matter of minutes; the routers are easy to deploy and simple to plug and play.

Sacha Kakad, Chief Executive Officer at Westbase Technology said, “Our partnership with Deltenna means that we can offer customers a unique product that is actively helping to bridge the digital divide in rural communities, whilst providing a primary and back-up connectivity solution to businesses and enterprise users.”

With integrated IEEE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi technology, the WiBE routers ship in with rugged housing and mounting systems, powder coated metallic base, weather-proof enclosures, and a single cable solution.

Till now, routers were used only to connect your computers to the world of Internet. But, Cisco has completely revolutionized the story by introducing cloud computing to its new device. Cisco has unveiled its new Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA6500 router, which boasts to be the first router that supports 802.11ac standard on its 5GHz frequency band. Due to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi technology, it allows customers to remotely access their router-based networks through Smart Wi-Fi apps and widgets.

The Linksys EA6500 router offers great looks and stunning features. It offers 450Mbps of Wi-Fi speed on the 2.4GHz band and 1300Mbps speed on 2.4GHz bands, a fast processor for network storage, and better range and reliability. On the back, there are GB LAN ports, a 1GB WAN port, and two USB ports for connecting to the printer and the external hard drive. There is a push button for the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) feature. The E6500 comes equipped with a classic web interface along with Cisco Connect software that offers ease of use and faster connectivity. It ships in with an installer CD that provides step-by-step instructions to set up the router. For more advanced features, users can connect directly to the installer app through Cisco Connect Cloud, which has been renamed as Smart Wi-Fi platform. This is an app-based cloud-based platform that gives users the ability to remotely manage their cloud-enabled router as well as download apps for better functionality. Additionally, it also has a new SimpleTap feature. Through this, users can easily connect their devices with the router with a tap of the button.

However, there are certain areas where Linksys E6500 falls short. It cannot be managed without a Cisco Connect Cloud account. This requires live Internet connection and router connected to the Cisco all the time. It also has some connectivity and performance issues.

Nonetheless, at a price of $219.99, Linksys E6500 is an exciting solution for your home networking problems.

Ericsson has announced the launch of its Smart Cloud Accelerator solution, which complements Ericsson’s portfolio of content delivery options consisting of the Mobile Cloud Accelerator (MCA).

The latest addition to the SSR 8000 family of Ericsson is the SSR 8010 Smart Services Router (SSR). The SSR 8000 is a key component of Ericsson’s portfolio of 4th-generation IP networking solutions launched in 2011. The portfolio is ideal for mobile and fixed IP backhaul that can aggregate 2G, 3G, 4G and fixed access traffic.

The 10-slot SSR 8010 complements the 20-slot SSR 8020, enabling operators to deploy the SSR family in different regions of the network: IP Edge and aggregation. The SSR 8010 consumes just 3.3 watts per gigabit of traffic throughput, and is ideal for applications where 10 available slots will be optimal to meet current capacity and upcoming growth. Capacity planning will drive the decision and a customer can deploy both 8010 and 8020 nodes in the same network. The SSR 8010′s smaller footprint provides additional flexibility for operators to deploy networks with distributed architectures.

The SSR 8010 will be commercially available in third quarter of 2012.
