Details of a DNS server address and ways to locate it
What is a DNS server address? What are the ways to locate it?
DNS is short for Domain Name System and is basically a server or a service whose duty is to make necessary translations of each domain name in respective IP addresses. Domain names are given by alphabets because it is easy to remember their names as compared to using numerals as domain names. But actually, the Internet is based on IP addresses and each time you make use of a domain name it needs to be translated to the IP address. DNS server performs the task of translating the domain name you enter in to the respective IP address. When you enter in domain name on your web browser and hit 'Enter', the DNS Server looks up for the correct IP of the domain and tries to translate it. If it is unable to do that, it asks for another one and so on, till the correct IP address of the domain that you are looking for is returned.
