Get to know more about changing IP address in Windows XP
IP or Internet Protocol address is the identification label assigned to various devices that are included in the network. The user computer connected to the network consists of an IP address that helps the network communication process data packets to specific systems. IP is the communication standard used by user systems in the network. The IPv4 communication standard user uses 32 bit IP addressing today. The whole IP address is divided into four sections separated with dots. The numbers included in each of the four sections would be between 0 and 255 and are 8 bit each. The IP addresses are in binary format. But the address is present on the system in user readable form. Location addressing and host identification is the purpose of IP addresses. IP addresses are unique numbers since the IP address assigned on one system cannot be assigned to another computer. The new IPv6 version of communication protocol offers 128 bit IP addressing.
