All manually stored settings will be erased and all settings will be restored to their defaults. Resetting firmware will fix the issue and if not, you can upgrade the firmware program to the latest version.
Sometimes a cable modem fails to receive proper signals from the Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) installed on the local cable TV office due to temporary outage. So, you need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and check if there is any outage.
At times the cable modem fails to communicate with the modem effectively because then the network card is faulty and it communicates with modem slowly. To fix the issue you can re-install or update the network card driver, and if the issue remains, you need to replace the network card.
