Netgear® Wireless Router modem
A wireless router is primarily a router with wireless access point and network switch. You can connect directly to Internet or a network without the need for cables. A wireless router has the flexibility to work in wired LAN, wireless LAN, or both. A wireless router has LAN port, which is similar to network switch. WAN port is for connection to wide area network and can be used for Internet connection. Wireless antenna is used to connect to different devices like NIC, wireless repeaters, wireless access points, Wi-Fi and wireless bridge. The wireless router is connected to modem for connectivity. The network may be shared which means that there may be a mixture of wired or wireless connectivity.

Disconnect the end which is towards the computer only. Leave this cable connected to modem. Connect the free end of the network cable to the Internet port on the Netgear wireless router. Plug the cable’s one end to the LAN port of the router and connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet port on the system. Plug on and power on each unit and wait for some time to start up.
Internet Connectivity Problem
At times you might face Internet connectivity problems after connecting NetGear Wireless Router to a modem. In a case of failure to get Internet connectivity, first you need to check whether the modem has successful network connectivity or not. If there is problem with Wireless Router Internet Light, then verify that Ethernet cable connectivity is correct and that both modem and wireless router are turned ON. There may be a problem with IP address of router, so check whether router is assigned a proper IP address by going to router settings.
You may experience the loss of connectivity or slowing down of the connections after connecting the router to the modem. This may occur due to noise level, as Netgear routers by default are not susceptible to noise. To fix it, go to the web browser and type in http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug in the address bar and navigate to get display as Debug Enable. Start telnet session by typing telenet 192.168.0.1 in the command window and alter the SNR by typing adslctl start—snr 130. This will clear out the issue.
