App-enabled router launched by Cisco®

Networking specialist Cisco has announced the release of a line of Linksys Smart Wi-Fi routers that promises to entirely change the experience of home networking. The newly introduced series is called EA Series and it includes EA4500, EA3500, and EA2700 models. The ‘A’ letter in this series means ‘app-enabled’.

All the three models of the EA Series come equipped with more powerful hardware and support the next generation of Cisco Connect software called Cisco Connect Cloud. The EA4500, for instance, appears similar to the original Linksys E4200, but the differences inside are significant. Cisco also announced that it is working with top device manufacturers to simplify their networked products, such as TVs, entertainment devices, and home appliances.

Today’s connected consumer has high expectations for reliability, simplicity and software and apps that grow with them over time,” said Brett Wingo, vice president and general manager, Cisco Home Networking. “Our routers put intelligence into the home network so consumers have a platform that makes it easy to manage and optimize their devices, and enjoy apps that deliver great new experiences.”
