In order to help service providers in dealing with heavy traffic business demands, Juniper Networks has announced that the company has boosted the overall performance of its routers. The additions to the existing routers have been done to improve their business performance.
As per reports, Juniper Networks has extended the performance capability of their line cards which are used to provide maximum throughput of 3.8 terabits per second in the edge routers.
According to Alan Sardella, director of product marketing for Juniper Networks, "the latest enhancement to the MX 3D Universal Edge Routers are the latest in a series of in-service upgrades made possible by the way Juniper developed the switching fabric and packet forwarding engine for the MX 3D series."
The new addition will now let the MX Series support thrice the amount of subscriber capacity, which will further double the rack as well as the platform capacity of all the competitive platforms. Moreover, this router also helps in saving the electricity consumption almost by one/third. On the other hand, they also claim that Juniper MX960 can support 8 million mobile subscribers and up to 10,000 business virtual private networks, along with another 8 million views on YouTube per day.
"The edge upgrades are part of Juniper’s overall Universal Edge play, which aims to offer service providers the capacity, subscriber management and opex savings needed to capitalize on the demand for greater bandwidth for especially enterprise/cloud and mobile services," said John Lehane, Juniper senior product marketing manager, in an interview.
These upgrades are expected to be available next month.
