ZyXEL Communications, a Taiwanese manufacturer of networking devices, has launched a new series of IP camera (Internet Protocol camera) that is based on cloud technology. The web cameras, IPC3605N and IPC4605N, have been developed specifically for homes and small offices.
These new ZyXEL IP cameras can be installed quickly and without any hassles. The data recorded by the cameras can be accessed over the Internet through any computer, Android-based devices, or the iPhone. IPC3605N and IPC4605N are equipped with features such as 802.11n Wi-Fi, clear audio capture, video resolution of 720p, and h.264 video format support. The monitoring is impressive even in dim-lit surroundings. The integrated infrared LEDs are designed to illumine indistinct areas up to a distance of 15 feet. IPC4605N comes with a Pan-Tilt-Zoom feature for a surveillance angle up to 340 degrees laterally and a tilt up to 100 degrees.
"Previously, IP cameras demanded complicated configurations, requiring users to make significant changes to their router. These configurations included port forwarding to a specific port that was popular among developers, so the port was often already dedicated to another application. Or, the solutions relied on UPnP, which was often disabled by the service operators. Our cameras solve these obstacles with cloud software that only requires the device to be registered. This enables users to easily access the camera via a downloaded application anywhere, anytime,” said Steven Joe, executive vice president, channel business for Americas, ZyXEL.
In addition to the new products, the manufacturer also provides some free apps for PCs and other devices to facilitate easier and faster remote access. Once the cameras are purchased, customers can register themselves online and download these apps in order to connect to the webcams even while they are on the move. The access to surveillance and data feeds can be shared with any member of the family. IPC3605N and IPC4605N are expected to be available by coming February at a price of $99 and $185, respectively.
