My Online Dating Scam Experience
My name is John. I live in Fort Worth, Texas with my wife and kids. All in all, I have a great life. I love my family to death. I have a great job that pays well. My friends are awesome. But, even though I love my life, I felt there were some things missing; romantically. Don’t get me wrong, I very much enjoy being intimate with my wife. I love her a lot. There are just no sparks anymore.
I really miss that excited feeling I used to get when my wife and I first started dating. That feeling was incredible. The first time we made love was one of the best days of my life. Every kiss and every touch was magnified. Over time, this began to die down. I know that this is normal, but sometimes I can’t help myself when I begin to crave those new and excited feelings.
Anyway, one day I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was browsing the adult sections of Craigslist and found a posting from a beautiful woman that said she was seeking a discreet encounter with a married man and that she was also married.
I instantly started writing back and forth with her in the hopes that she would want to meet. She said she was really interested, but she wanted to make sure that I was not dangerous. I told her I wasn’t, but she insisted that I do a “”screening”" to verify that I wasn’t a rapist or murderer. I was reluctant, but I was unfortunately not thinking with my head at the time so I completed it.
The next thing I knew, I was being charged some outrageous fees to my credit card and the woman never responded to me again. That’s when I knew I was targeted for one of those online dating scam things that I was hearing about. Boy, did I feel stupid. I will never fall for that again.
My friend is broken!!!!!
Hi Liza, one of my friend too was scammed like that. He trusted the girl, Suzanne and gave his personal details. They were supposed to meet and when the day came she didn’t show up. After some weeks he realized that he was scammed. Now he is really broken both fianacially and emotionally too!!!!!!!
Promptly deleted by Online Dating account in time!
I had just moved to town and was ready to start my new life. Since I did not know anyone in town, I had no clue how I was going to find a boyfriend. I decided to try a couple on online dating sites. A couple of my cousins and a one of my friends had met their husbands through online dating. They seemed happy in their relationships, so I figured online dating couldn’t be all that bad.
I signed up with one site that my best friend had used. Although she hadn’t met her boyfriend there, she had gone on a couple of fun dates and met some really nice men. I browsed through the available men on the site, and found one that I thought would be a great match. We had both grown up in small towns, loved hiking, and liked the same tv shows. I sent him a brief email, telling him how I had just moved to town and was looking to get to know new people. I didn’t here anything back for two days. When I finally did get his email, it sounded like a total online scam. The grammar and spelling was horrendous. He wrote about how he was visiting his sick mother overseas and had run out of money to buy a plane ticket back. He asked if I would send him money so that he could come back to the states and that we would get married when he returned. I promptly deleted my account. Surprisingly, I met a great guy later that night while I was grocery shopping.
