Setting up TRENDnet® Modem
There are different kinds of Internet connections like dial up connection, cable Internet connection and DSL, etc. TRENDnet modems are commonly used to setup a high speed DSL connection. The computer that needs the Internet connection must have an Ethernet card installed on it. The telephone line is connected to the TRENDnet modem and a network cable is connected from the TRENDnet modem to the computer. Many of the TRENDnet modems are capable of serving the wireless network. TRENDnet modem includes a firmware program to hold Internet settings and run network services. To configure the modem, you need to connect the network cable and the power connector to the modem, turn on the modem and wait for the all the LEDs to show their status. Once the connections are made, you need to open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address of the modem in the address bar and hit 'Enter'. The firmware program would open up the Modem configuration page for you. You will be prompted for an admin user and password before access to the configuration page is granted. You need to type in the user name and the password for the Internet account and save settings. After settings are saved, your computer is ready to go online. You can check e-mails, chat with your friends or surf websites with a lightning speed Internet connection.

Every Internet service provider provides you with a unique user name and password to authenticate your account on their server. If the user name and the password entered are incorrect, the access to the Internet will be denied. So, ensure that the user name and password is typed in correctly in the exact format as suggested by the Internet service provider.
If the network cable is not connected properly or if it is faulty, the computer will not connect to the modem and the modem configuration page will not come up. So, make sure that the network cable is not faulty; connect it properly to the network port, set the computer to obtain the IP address from the DHCP and then restart the computer to make sure that the computer and the modem is in sync.
Firmware embedded on the modem is a program to control the workflow of the modem and like every other program it may get corrupted or there could be bugs in the firmware program which cause various issues. To fix this issue, you can hit the reset button present on the modem to reset the firmware. If the issue is not fixed even after resetting the firmware, you can try to update the firmware program.
