All about TRENDnet® wireless router firmware
TRENDnet wireless routers are one of the most commonly used routers in a wireless router. Every computer in the network communicates with each other through the wireless router. TRENDnet wireless router is a smart device and it can run various network services like DHCP, DNS and IP forwarding. All these services are performed by the firmware program embedded on the router. Firmware is the soul of the TRENDnet wireless router. An IP address for the router, settings for DHCP, DNS and other network services, Internet account settings etc are saved on the router with the help of the firmware. So, if firmware gets corrupted or encounters an issue, the router will stop working completely or some services do not start due to bugs in the firmware program. In such cases, you can update the firmware program to the latest build developed by TRENDnet. The firmware update also improves the existing features of the router. Before you try to update the firmware program, you can reset the router and check if the issue is fixed and if the issue is not fixed, you can proceed with the router firmware updation. You can hit the 'Reset' button present on the bottom of the router which would reset the router firmware. You will lose all the manually saved information, if you reset the router.

Tips to update firmware
To update the firmware, you need to connect the router to the computer using a network cable. Now, you can go to the Transnet’s website, download the latest version of firmware package for your TRENDnet wireless router and save it to a safe location. Once the download is completed, you need to double click on the download file, run the firmware package and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update. The router would get rebooted after a successful, firmware updation.
Things to be kept in mind
You need to avoid all kinds of interruptions while updating the firmware program, close all the running programs and ensure proper power supply to avoid system turn off during the firmware update. Most importantly make sure that the firmware program that you are downloading is compatible with your TRENDnet wireless router model because updating the router with an incompatible firmware package would result in serious errors.
Some antivirus programs detect the firmware package as viruses and they block the updation process. In such cases, you may need to temporarily turn off the firewall and the antivirus program until the updation process is completed. Sometimes, computer fails to connect to the router to perform the updation. To avoid such issue, set your computer to obtain the IP address from DHCP and connect the computer directly to the router using a network cable. Let the computer obtain the IP address from DHCP running on the router or specify an IP address to the computer which falls under the same IP range that your router is on.
