Configuring TRENDnet® Wireless Router for enhanced security
The TRENDnet wireless router is primarily a router with wireless access point and network switch. You can connect directly to the Internet or a network without the need for cables. It has the flexibility to work in wired LAN, wireless LAN, or both. The TRENDnet router has different features for security options. For protecting your network it has support for IP Filtering, Domain and URL blocking. The network traffic is smartly controlled with Virtual Server, Virtual PC Mapping, and DMZ. It has a unique NAT/SPI firewall, which protects your system, your private network and prevents any unnecessary alerts via e-mail. You can also Enable/Disable SSID for that extra security. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is a standard for easy and secure wireless network setup and connectivity. WPS automatically configures the network name (SSID) and it has WPA security key for the router or access point. WPS gives you freedom because you do not need to remember network. With WPS no one can guess your security keys because it is randomly generated.

Password Protection of router’s configuration
The password settings are necessary for any router; otherwise anyone can change the settings. For this type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of web browser and enter the settings by typing admin as username and leave the password option blank. Now go to Security in the sub-menu, select WPA, and type the password you wish for the router.
The Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of the wireless network and wireless devices. It uses this name to communicate with each other. TRENDnet routers are shipped with default SSID name when you purchase. This must be changed as early as possible for warding of the intruders from easily cracking in to the Internet. Go to Wireless settings and change the name in Wireless Network Name (SSID) in it.
Disabling SSID broadcast is a good idea to secure network by hiding your network name. Go to the wireless settings and select Disable SSID to make your network invisible. Other security settings include changing the channel your router uses for communication regularly, filter MAC address to restrict the devices communicating to your router and use encryption settings available like WEP and WPA.
